I am going to make one of those barbie type doll cakes.. Any ideas and help would be great. I was also thinking of making additional smaller versions using the small bratz dolls (bratz theme birthday) - any help/tips would be nice!!!

Re: Barbie/Doll/Bratz CAKE - Help!!
My aunt made a southern belle doll/barbie cake for DD when she was small. She used an aluminum mixing bowl for the cake, inserted the Barbie and decorated the cake with a small star tip.
As far as a Bratz cake...I think Wilton makes cake pans in every shape imaginable.

Re: Barbie/Doll/Bratz CAKE - Help!!
My aunt made these for my sisters and me when we were young.
She would bake an angel food cake in a regular angel food cake pan.
She shaved off part of the top of the cake to more of a skirt type shape.
She carefully placed the lower part of the Barbie in plastic wrap
and slipped Barbie in the center.
She then iced and decorated the cakes.
Beautiful!
Makes for lots of happy memories too.

Re: Barbie/Doll/Bratz CAKE - Help!!
Found this:
How to Make a Barbie Cake
Here's how to make a Barbie cake that will delight Barbie fans young and old alike!
Difficulty Level: Medium Time Required: 1 hour
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Here's How:
Make a cake in a well-greased 2 quart round glass baking dish (the 2 Quart Classic Batter Bowl from The Pampered Chef is perfect for this)
Your cake can be any flavor; just pick a flavor that will give you a color you would like for the "skirt" of the cake.
Let the cake cool (very important!) and remove from bowl. Then, take a Barbie Doll (nude) and insert it in the middle of the cake up to her waist. You may make a hole to insert the doll, or simply stick her in firmly if you are in a rush.
Now, you make Barbie's dress with frosting! The cake forms the skirt of the dress. Use frosting to decorate the skirt (pre-made or home-made frosting; your choice)..
Take the frosting up onto Barbie's torso to make the bodice of the dress! You can make any design with the frosting; sleeveless, dress with straps, etc.
Frosting dress can be simple, or very elaborate with frosting rosettes for a formal dress
Chill cake and serve.
Tips:
Do NOT bake the cake with the Barbie in it!
Do not stick the Barbie in the cake until the cake is cooled, or the Barbie can melt!

Re: Barbie/Doll/Bratz CAKE - Help!!
OHH I LOVE these. My moms friend was a cake decorater and when I was little she would make these for me. She always was nice enough to buy me a real Barbie doll and then put the clothing she came with in a little pkg on the dolls arm. If/When I have a girl I will for sure make this for her.

Re: Barbie/Doll/Bratz CAKE - Help!!
wal-mart sells the kits to make these cakes. kit includes one doll, and pan to fix "skirt". Easy with kit, also gives details to dress up the doll. made some for daughter and niece and they loved them. Added roses as base of skirt to make it look like she was standing in a roses.

My advice would be to get this cake kit, it is CHEAP and you can reuse it, making it a bratz or barbie cake is up to you because you wrap the figures bottome half in plastic so that you do not have to buy a figurine specifically for that
