Great Ideas for All Occasions!!!!

Spool Doll
Materials:

4 1"x3/4" wooden spools
7" to 8" piece of 1 1/2" ribbon or lace
1 8" piece of 1/4" ribbon
1" wooden head bead (with or without face)
4 3/8" wooden screw buttons
Bit of curly doll hair
Mini straw doll hat(optional)
Method:

Glue two of the spools together side by side. These are the legs. Glue two of the screw buttons over the holes on one side: these are the feet. Lay this on the table with the 'feet' facing you.
Glue the second set of spools end to end. Glue the last two screw buttons over the end holes. This is the arm assembly.
Gather with needle and thread the top edge of the 8" piece of wide ribbon or lace until you had a flower shape. Knot off. Glue this to the top of the leg assembly, with the feet sticking out from under the skirt. Glue the arm assembly on top of the skirt.
If the head bead does not have a face, put one on it now. Glue the tuft of hair to the top of the head, trying to have it drape around the face. If you have chosen to put a hat on, glue it to the top now. Then glue the head to the top of the arm assembly.
Finally, take the narrow piece of ribbon, and fashion a bow. Glue this under the chin. Ribbon and small flowers may be glued onto the hat, depending how elaborate you wish to make this craft.

Foam Pencil Holder
Cut a 9 in. x 4-1/2 in. piece of green fun foam.
Glue ends together, overlapping about an inch (cylinder shape).
Trace around the opening and cut a piece of green to fit the bottom.
Glue bottom to cylinder.
Cut butterfly antenna ends and design shapes from foam using patterns.
Assemble according to illustration. Fold a chenille stem in half and fold out ends.
Glue the antenna pieces to ends.
Glue folded stem to center of butterfly as pictured.
Glue butterfly to pencil holder.

Self Esteem First Aid Kits
Take a film cannister and punch hole and tie some plastic lace through the top and fill with things that make you feel good to look at and whenever you feel down just open your cannister and look at the stuff inside.

Film Cannister Stamps
Using a black film canister, trace around lid with a ballpoint pen on a small piece of fun foam.
Draw a design within the confines of the circle.
Cut out the design using scissors.
Sand the lid of the film canister to prepare it for gluing, then glue the design to the lid with white glue.
Remind the girls that the design will print "backwards' and they should glue the drawn side to the canister if they want it to print the way it was drawn.
When dry, get out the stamp pads and stamp away!

Wall Hangings
Tear up newspaper into tiny pieces.
Mix 2 cups of water with about 1 1/2 cups of newspaper in a blender.
Start on a slow speed and then blend to create a gray liquid with small pieces of pulp in it.
Pour it into a strainer and push much of the water out with the back of a spoon.
Pour it into one of the cookie molds and press it down into the mold.
Sponge out most of the water and then absorb as much water as you can with dry towels as you press with your finger tips.
Let it dry over night or bake it a 275 degrees F. for about 20 minutes.
The mold is ready for another girl.
Pop it out of the mold, colour the raised pattern it makes with pastel chalk and rub the colour in with your fingers.
Add a piece of ribbon or raffia to hang it by.
You can glue this to the back with a glue gun.
A raffia bow looks great glued to the top of the front side too.

Cookie Clay
Materials:

2 cups salt
2/3 cups water
1 cup cornstarch
1/2 cup cold water
Method:

Mix salt with water in saucepan.
Stir and boil.
Add cornstarch and cold water.
Keep heating if it does not get thick.
Roll out dough on board floured with cornstarch.
Dry and decorate ornaments.

Sit Upons
Supplies

Vinyl shower curtain or tablecloth
Newspaper
Hole Puncher
Yarn
Paint Markers
Method:

Cut the curtain/tablecloth in pieces that wil fold in half and sit a person comfortably.
Fold in half and punch holes all around edge of square about 1/2 inch apart
Lace with yarn in and out tying in knot at the end.
Let the girls decorate with the paint markers.
(Hint..I found that not allowing the girls to color in their pictures saved the paint and helped them to dry faster. Even so, they still looked great.)

First Aide Kit Necklace
Take a old film container and drill a hole in the top.
Fill with a few alchohol pads, a few bandaids, a safety pin, and any other thing you can think of to fit.
Tie a string to the whole in the top of lid and hang around your neck.

Puzzle Bows
Buy whatever size bow clips you want and hot glue puzzle pieces to them in any fashion that you like.
Next you will paint it however you want, if you use light colors you may have to use a gray primer first.
You will need to overlap them to make it look better.
You can glue with buttons, ribbon, bells or anything else you can find.
They look very cute.
