Thanksgiving Leftovers Bags

Guests will know they are special when you send them home with leftovers or dessert in these adorable bags! All you need are small gift bags (found at craft stores for less than 50 cents), a glue gun and various embellishments, like leaves, rubber stamps and ink, raffia, ribbon, Indian corn and corn husks, dried fruits, etc. Brown paper lunch bags work just fine, and little gift boxes would be perfect for a piece of cake or pumpkin pie.

Yum Bag
Use a circular note card (from Impress Rubber Stamps) or cut your own shape from decorative papers or card stock. Attach names, initials, letters to spell a word, or various other metal charms with eyelets and an eyelet tool (all from Making Memories).

Stamped Tag Bag
Stamp a message like "Happy Thanksgiving" around the circular note (from Impress Rubber Stamps) and "to You" in the center using an alphabet stamp kit or other rubber stamped design. Punch two tiny holes in the top of the note tag as well as the bag; then tie the tag to the bag using ribbon, raffia, string or colored wire like ours (from Making Memories).

Autumn Elegance Bag
This bag has a slight golden sheen to it rather than just a matte color. Glue on one or two silk, felt, or dried leaves and a couple of dried orange or apple slices. Cinnamon sticks, berry sprigs and raffia bows are also good embellishments.

Falling Leaves Bag
The falling leaves on this bag are detailed little self-adhesive stickers from Jolee's Boutique. Use an alphabet stamp set to stamp a message like Happy Thanksgiving between falling leaves.

Leaf Border Bag
These faux-velvet leaves were quite a find--a small bag of about 30 shimmering leaves in various shapes, sizes and colors for only one dollar! (at A.C. Moore) Glue a few large ones around the top of an opened bag; then fill in gaps with smaller leaves turned this way and that. The leaves are flexible enough to fold with the bag when it's folded up after use.

Sunflower Bag
The dark brown of this bag is accented perfectly with a bright, cheerful sunflower. Just snip a silk flower from its stem with wire cutters or old scissors and glue on with hot glue.

Stamped Leaf Bag
Stamp a friendly message on a light-colored silk leaf using alphabet rubber stamps and attach to the bag with hot glue

Golden Leaf Bag
This is the simplest bag of all--just stamp a pretty leaf onto a dark-colored bag using gold or copper ink. You can dress it up a bit by adding tiny no-hole beads or glitter for a bit of sparkle, or stamp leaves all over the bag. Try a light-colored bag and red, orange, brown or burgundy inks.

This is a great project to keep little ones busy during Thanksgiving preparations. They are too pretty to throw away and can be reused--maybe next year the bag will come back to you with a piece of pie inside!
