Does anyone know how to make a canopy? - Big Big Forums

I am planning on redecorating my daughters room and would like ideas on making a canopy. What I have in mind is taking a large metal ring, like they sell in craft supply stores, draping material over it and suspending the ring from the ceiling. I just can't figure out exactly how to get this done..Lol. If anyone knows how to do this or can give me some ideas, I would really appreciate it.

if it were me, i'd hang the fabric by using grommets (sp?) and rings and thread them around the circle, then drape it from there

You could mount ring style towel holders on the ceiling and thread the fabric through.

Or you could mount heavy plant hooks (like cup hooks) on the ceiling at the four corners of the bed, then suspend a pvc pipe frame (square). Drape the fabric over it.

If you think you would like to change the fabric often, just mount the hooks and buy the round clamp style drapery hooks to attach the the fabric. The hooks can be easily removed and replaced on new fabric.

I was at Limited Too today, and they had exactly what you are looking for for only around $20.00! I thought of buying it for my daughter, but decided she needed wall decorations more......

LOL, I was just going to post that Libby Lu sells them for $18.....I couldn't have made one for that price so I just bought it, and as my DD said 'it even has princess crowns on it so I must be a princess'!

If You are fmiliar with ABC Distrubiting, they have these cheap, got my daughter one for her daybed. The only downside is they are pink or purple no other color. She loves hers.

I didnt see the white one the one my daughter has is the purple one and its got fuzzies around the ring part. You are welcome. I have found lots of great stuff there also. I redone my daughters bathroom with the cat stuff that is there. It is really neat.
