Hi,
I hope this is the kind of poem you're looking for:
What is a Son?
A son is a warm spot in your heart
and a smile on your lips.
In the beginning, he is charmingly
innocent, putting his complete trust
in you.
He comes to you for a hand to hold
and for the security only your arms
can provide.
He shares his tales of adventure and knows
how proud you are of his
discoveries and accomplishments.
All his problems can be solved by a
hug and a kiss from you, and the
bond, you share is so strong it is
almost tangible.....
Time passes, and your innocent little boy
starts to test his limits. He lets go of your
hand to race into the midst of life without
thinking ahead or looking both ways.
His problems have grown along with him,
and he has learned that you can't always
make his life better or kiss his troubles away.
He spends much of his time away from you,
and though you long for the closeness you
once shared, he chooses independence and
privacy.
Discoveries and accomplishments aren't as
easy to come by now, and sometimes
he wonders about his worth.
But you know the worth of that young man.
He is your past and your future. He is hopes
and dreams that have made it through each
and every disappointment and failure.
In your heart, your son is precious and
treasured. Together, you struggles through
the years trying to find the right amount of
independence for each new stage of his life,
until finally, you had to learn to let him go.
Now you put your trust in him, leaving that
son whom you hold so dear totally in his own
care. You hope he always remembers that you
have a hand for him to hold and arms to
provide comfort or support.
Most of all, you hope that he believes in
himself as much as you believe in him, and
that he knows how much you love him.

Don't Ever
Don't ever try to understand everything ~
some things will just never make sense.
Don't ever be reluctant to show your feelings ~
when you're happy, give into it!
When you're not, live with it.
Don't ever be afraid to try to make things better ~
you might be surprised at the results.
Don't ever take the weight of the world
on your shoulders.
Don't ever feel threatened by the future ~
take life one day at a time.
Don't ever feel guilty about the past ~
what's done is done. Learn from any mistakes
you might have made.
Don't ever feel that you are alone ~
there is always somebody there for you
to reach out to.
Don't ever forget that you can achieve
so many of the things you can imagine ~
imagine that! It's not as hard as it seems.
Don't ever stop loving,
don't ever stop believing,
don't ever stop dreaming your dreams.

I Wish for You
I wish you the courage to be warm
when the world would prefer that you
be cool.
I wish you success sufficient to your
needs I wish you failure to
temper that success.
I wish you joy in all your days; I
wish you sadness so that you
may better measure joy,
I wish you gladness to overbalance
grief,
I wish you humor and a twinkle in
the eye.
I wish you glory and the strength to
bear its burdens.
I wish you sunshine on your path
and storms to season your journey....
I wish you peace ~ in the world in
which you lie and in the
smallest corner of the heart
where truth is ketp.
I wish you faith ~ to help define
your living and your life.
More I cannot wish you ~ except
perhaps love ~ to make all
the rest worthwhile.

I am Always Here for You
I am always here
to understand you
I am always here
to laugh with you
I am always here
to cry with you
I am always here
to talk to you
I am always here
to think with you
I am always here
to plan with you
Even though we might now
always be together
please know that
I am always hwere
to love you.

You Have So Much
You have powers
you never dreamed of.
You can do things
you never thought you could do.
There are no limitations
in what you can do
except the limitations
in your own mind as to
what you cannot do.
Don't think you cannot.
Think you can.
By Darwin P. Kingsley
I Will Support You
I will support you,
in all that you do
I will help you,
in all that you need.
I will share with you,
in all that you experience.
I will encourage you,
in all that you try.
I will understand you,
in all that is in your heart.
I will love you,
in all that you are.
By Susan Polis Schutz
Remember
If ever you need to talk,
to share a laugh,
a dream, a smile;
to be comforted
or reassured
to be understood.....
Remember,
my shoulder is there
for your head,
your secrets are safe
and my door
is always open.
By Ronad Scott
Child of Mine
It's been so gratifying
for me to see you
go through such positive changes
and inner growth.
Your happiness is contagious,
and I'm so happy for you....
to see you becoming
a strong individual
and doing all the right things
to make your days ahead
shine even brighter.
It's been great for me
to watch you grow
and to become
even more of that special someone
you are....inside.....
Through your growing and changing,
I want to ask that you
take me along with you.
I don't mean that I want you
to tell me every thought
you have along the way,
but to remember that I am here....
wherever and whenever you need me.
And I hope that you'll remember
that I'm on your side.
And even if I can't always help you win,
there will never be a day
when I won't be cheering you on.

While You Are
Finding Yourself
While you are finding yourself in the world,
there are many rewards in life.
Happiness awaits you
and there are joys to give and to recieve.
There is knowledge to be found.
Always listen to your own heart
while reaching for nothing but the best.
Give to life, and life will give to you.
And as you love, always remember
that you are loved.
By Gwenda Jennings
I Know
Sometimes the world seems so cold.
There are moments when you try your best,
and even that isn't good enough.
You yearn for the best life has to offer,
but you wonder if it will ever appear.
But you have to keep believing....
you have to remember
that things will get better,
that you will find the strength,
and you have to believe in yourself....
the way that I believe in you.
By Gina Bowie
I feel so fortunate to have you for a son
I love your bright face
when we talk seriously about the world
I love your smile
when you laugh at the inconsistencies in the world
I love your eyes
when you are showing emotion
I love your mind
when you are discovering newideas
and creating dreams to follow
Many people tell me that
they cannot talk to their children
that they cannot wait for them to leave home
I want you to know
that I enjoy you so much and
I look forward to any time we can spend together
Not only are you my adored son
but you are also my friend
I am so proud of you
my son and
I love you
By Susan Polis Schutz
My Son, My Friend
It's always been hardest
to write about you,
I love you so much
what ever you do.
My son, you're my pride,
my bright shining star
you fill up my world,
where ever you are.
All of the memories
and all of the days,
you've showed me you care
in so many ways.
No mother could ever
be happier than I
to have such a son,
that's such a great guy!
