Cutting:
Patchwork: Cut 8 2 1/2” squares of dark fabric
Cut 8 2 1/2” squares of light fabric
Backing: Cut 1 8”x 8” square of dark fabric
Sewing:
1) Using matching thread, begin piecing the left hand row of squares together, starting at the top. After you have joined 4 rows of 4 squares each, join the rows together, See Figure 1. Iron the pieced top on both the wrong and right sides. Use a light touch.
2) Lay your pieced right side down on top of your backing fabric, making sure your two pieces are a square 8"x 8". Trim if you need to. With right sides together, sew front to back leaving an opening for turning. Clip corners; turn to right side and press. Slip stitch the opening closed.
3) See Figure 2 to fold, pin and slipstitch edges to make envelope sachet.
4) For closure of envelope sachet: Using decorative thread, sew on a pony bead to the envelope, 1/2" from bottom front of the envelope. Sew a pony bead on the envelope point, leaving enough slack in the decorative thread to pull the pony bead on the envelope through the bead with a decorative loop. See Figure 3
