My son's kindergarden class made these for Mother's day last year, except they poured ceramic in the inside of the pot and buried the pen cap up to the lip in the middle of the pot. Now, then pen sets upright in the pen cap and the pot is heavy enough that it does not tip over. The kids got to paint the whole pot after the ceramic had set.
