melting snowman



This bean bag style snowman looks like he's melting in the sun!


Materials:
Underlined products are available in our online store, please note a 1 yard minimum for fabric
• 1/2 yd. cotton batting OR polyester fleece
• 1/4 yd. polyester batting
• (1) 8 oz. bag Sew-Perfect® Poly-Pellets®
• 1/4 yd. outerwear fleece
• fiberfill
• (2) 1/4" half-ball buttons (La-Petite #755)
• (1) 5mm red pom-pom
• black extra-fine permanent marking pen
• thread
• fabric glue
• powder blush
• OPTIONAL: pinking shears

Cut: Click here for pattern
as directed on pattern piece of cotton batting/polyester fleece:
• (1) 17" circle (body)
• (2) 2 1/4" x 6" pieces (arms)
• (1) 4 1/2" x 10 1/4" piece (head)
of polyester batting:
• (1) 8" circle
• (1) 7" circle
of outerwear fleece:
• (1) 5" x 11" piece (hat)
• (1) 2" x 24" piece (scarf)



Directions: 1/4" seam allowance RST - Right Sides Together
1. Hand gather close to raw edge of 17" circle.
2. Center 8" batting circle on 17" cotton batting circle. Put 1/2 to 3/4 of a bag of Poly-Pellets® in center of batting. Place 7" batting circle over Poly-Pellets®. Draw up tightly on gathering stitches and secure thread.
3. RST, stitch the two arm pieces along both 6" edges. Turn. Stuff lightly.
4. Wrong sides together, stitch each pair of mittens leaving straight edge open. Optional: Trim all raw edges of each mitten with pinking shears.
5. Place one mitten over each arm end. Hand stitch mitten to arm, pulling up stitches until piece measures 1" between stitching lines on mitten. Note: Check to be sure "thumbs" on mittens both face the same direction.
6. RST, fold head piece in half mathing 4 1/2" edges and stitch. Turn.
7. Hand gather close to one raw edge. Pull up stitching as tightly as possible and secure threads.
8. Hand gather remaining raw edge. Stuff head firmly with fiberfill. Pull up stitching as tightly as possible and secure threads.
9. With "thumbs" facing the front, center and glue arms to body, covering gathered stitching.
10. Glue head over arms.
11. Referring to photo, stitch button "eyes" to face front about 2" from top gathering stitches, pulling stitching slightly to imbed buttons and sculpt face. Glue red pom-pom for nose. Draw mouth with black marking pen, as desired. Apply blush to cheeks.
12. RST, fold hat in half forming a 5" x 5 1/2" piece. Stitch along 5" edge. Turn. Fold up 1 1/4" on bottom edge of hat for brim. Fold raw edge of brim under 1/4" and glue.
13. Hand gather around other end of hat "tube" 1" from raw edge. Pull up stitches tightly and secure threads.
14. With seam to back, position and glue hat on snowman's head.
15. Wrap scarf around neck and tie in front. Trim ends as desired.
