ISO Advent Calendar
I would like to make an Advent Calendar to help my children wait more patiently for Christmas. Has anyone got a good pattern? I've heard of ones that even have little "gift boxes" in them to put a small trinket or piece of candy in. One for the 24 days before Christmas. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

You can also make a "Jesse Tree". You make ornaments representing various Bible stories. Each day in Decemberr your child can put one of the ornaments on the tree, and you read the relevant passage of the Bible together. You start with Adam and Eve and end with the Christmas story. There's a book on how to do it, although I also used a magazine article I found once for ideas for the ornament symbols. Try:
http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/7202/jesselinks.html My son loves doing this every year. Last edited by bettyoboogie : 11-15-2002 at 08:17 AM. |

Jalex....no apology needed. Things like this happen. We were looking at the same time and it does take awhile to look them up and put them in a post.
I'm just glad to see that you are still sticking around and posting. You are going to be missed a lot, I always look at your posts because you have very interesting projects. By the way, I really like the German advents you posted. My mom is from Munich and we used to do advent calendars when I was growing up. |
