Tick-tock Plate Clock ...
Fall brings cool weather, falling leaves, and for many, a time change. To keep track of time, we've turned flea market finds into clocks that are sure to keep you and your family ticking through the winter and beyond. This project can be tailored to match any décor, and it also makes a great gift!
Materials: • Plate (ceramic or plastic) • Clock kit from craft store • Drill and appropriate drill bit for material used • AA battery Instructions: 1. Find the plate you want to work with. Check out flea markets, garage sales, and antique stores for inexpensive treasures. 2. Drill a hole in the middle of the plate. Be sure to use the correct drill bit and speed for the plate material, whether it's plastic or ceramic. You'll want to take your time and protect your eyes with safety goggles. We found that it works best to drill from the back of the plate to avoid chipping the front. 3. Follow the instructions on the clock kit for installing the clock hands and motor. If the hands provided with the kit don't match your motif, paint them the color of your choice. If you want to spice up a plain plate, try painting numbers or decorations with paint pens or using stickers for a personalized effect.
