finally got rid of my old beat up heavy cane
(INS paid for!)the new one is
ergonomically correct
with pistol grip handle
lightweight & nice
EXCEPT
the grip is too slippery on my gloved hand &
on the counter or wall when I momentarily need to use both hands or I'm just resting my hands

I want to put a loop type thingy at the handle,I have some of the special tape left over from wrapping my tools for grip & softness. I thought I could use a row of that around the grip for the slipperyness and
connect a loop with it under so I can slip the loop over my wrist.

what can I use for the loop? It has to be non-junky (lol) durable & alittle weather proof as I HAVE to walk regardless of alittle rain or snow. something that won't get all frayed right away.

maybe nylon braid like the thingy some people put on their glasses?

The first thing that came into my mind was leather!
This would porbably be your best solution

I actually have leather here from my son's medieval faires-have to catch him to cut & braid for me!!

well...that failed...tape won't stay on

(if he wraps the leather looped around the top and then into a braided wrist loop underneath it slips around too)

open for suggestions

what about an looped umbrella handle? and it is weather proof too if you could find a good way too hook this to the cane.you could do this: take your cane and umrella handle to a hardware store and tell tham what you would like to do, they probably could recomend a metal hook/loop to go on your cane at the base of the cane grip close to the pole part,the loop/hook should be small enough it cant slip over the handle grip,then you could hook the umbrella handle on it..I hope this makes sense the way I am telling it.. I think it would work REALLY well...about the umbrella handle I am talking about the wrist loop that is attached to some kinds of ubrella handles these are intended so you do not drop the umbrella. most of us have these just lying around so this could be free. as to the part from the hardware store I would say it would cost like $2 at the most....If this works or not please post back and let me know..also if I am unclear in this idea let me know I will explain more

I have one of those loops,it's nylon;tried the special grip tape around the handle w/loop inder it & it didn't stay either.

I never thought of just asking at hardware store,thanx

the strange shaped handle won't accomodate the rubber grips you can order at the medical supply(dumb??) thanx for comments
