Eggshell Chalk -
4-5 eggshells
1-teaspoon flour
1 teaspoon very hot tap water
Food coloring (optional)
Wash & dry eggshells. Put into bowl and grind into a powder (a mortar
and pestle works great). Discard any large pieces. Place flour and hot
water in another bowl and add 1 tablespoon eggshell powder & mix until
a paste forms. Add food coloring if desired. Shape & press mixture
firmly into the shape of a chalk stick and roll up tightly in a strip
of paper towel. Allow to dry 3 days or until hard. Unwrap from paper
towel & use for sidewalk chalk.
Three Great Tips For Today:
1. Tired of having to wait for the tacky glue to get to the tip? I
take a 2 liter soda bottle and cut the top 1/4 of it off now just put
the tip of you tacky glue in the spout and you have a real neat glue
stand. I cover mine with contact paper or fabric so that they look
nice. You can also use these for paint bottles and they’re FREE !!!
2. Usually the cake boxes that a bakery packs cakes in for take out
are flimsy. But sometimes I have gotten nice, sturdy ones in the
whole and half sheet sizes. When that has happened (after the cake is
gone, of course!), I clean the box of any residue, then line it inside
and out with a Contact plastic. Then they are good for general
storage, or for carrying homemade cakes/pies/cookies to events. Lucia
3. I love rubber stamps! With the price of card stock as high as it
is, I am always looking for other ways to accumulate papers that I can
use in my projects. One way that I have found is through greeting
cards that I receive throughout the year. A lot of cards have one
side that is completely white. I simply separate and save that side
of the card. These work really well for doing 3D bits or when you are
layering papers. It's also a great way to recycle! I would also love
to hear any tips for rubber stamping that anyone else might have.
