Arrow Getting married? Make headpieces, corsages,...jalex's wedding special...LOL

Corsage Making Techniques

Preparing silk or fresh flower for corsages:
The wire stem of the flower and green can usually be utilized instead of rewiring and taping. If you need only one, two or three inches of stem, tape over it first and cut it to the desired length

If you need the stem to be longer, lighter or more pliable, cut the stem below the flower to three or four inches and tape a floral wire over it.

Filler flowers and greens can be added to each flower with hot glue

There are two other methods:
Pierce Method

Bundle Method

Hairpieces: After you have read and understood the techniques on how to make a corsage you can make beautiful floral hair pieces.

For barrettes and combs: Use a separate floral wire to attach the completed corsage to the barrette. Wrap one end of the wire to the top of the barrette and tighten it. Lay the corsage on the barrette and wrap the wire tightly around both. Silk or dry corsages can also be hot glued on the barrette.

For wreaths: the bundle method is used. first, measure a separate floral wire or wires to fit the person's head.

Wrap that wire with stem wrap

Second, prepare the flower bundles. As you finish each bundle, lay them over the head wire and wrap the stem around it. Tape each one in place, overlapping each bundle slightly. When the head wire is covered, bend it into a circle and connect the ends together with

wire or a bow

How to make a boutonnière for the Groom

The groom's boutonniere flower is usually selected from the flowers in the bride's bouquet. Have him pin it over his heart on his left lapel.

Look for all kinds of small wonderful things to glue inside, (like a love note) where only he will notice and smile, and maybe even laugh out loud!

Have fun with this. He will love whatever you make for him.

Materials needed:
Fresh Rosebud or Silk Rose with velvet rose leaves
Green floral tape
Floral wire
Ribbon
Pearl spray (gold) or Babys Breath
White glue
Corsage pin
To Make:

o Cut stems to 6" long. Arrange flower on bed of leaves.
o Secure stems together with thin floral wire.
o Place green tape at top of stems underneath flower and stretch the tape as you twist it around the stems. It will stick to itself.

This headband looks beautiful with a simple, elegant gown. The bride could carry one absolutely beautiful, white rose, lily or peony with a long, satin ribbon tied around it for her bridal bouquet.

Materials needed:
1 satin covered headband
1 yard 1" ribbon
1 Package medium size pearls
Glue gun
White glue

To Make:

o Hot glue the end of the ribbon inside the end of the headband.
o Twist the ribbon around the headband leaving space in-between for the pearls. Hot glue the ribbon in place on the inside of the band as you wrap. Finish off the end by gluing it inside the end of the band. Cut off any remaining ribbon.
o Use white glue to adhere the pearls in-between the ribbon.

How to make a Ring Bearer's Pillow

Start with the smallest square pillow form your fabric store has in stock. This project gives instructions for a 9X9 pillow form.
Use the most beautiful white silk or satin you can find to cover your pillow.
Cut 2 squres of fabric measuring 10" x 10" and pin the right sides together. The fabric you want to show on the finished pillow should be facing each other.
Stitch three side together, remove the pins.
When you are finished sewing remove the pins turn it right side out - making sure to push your corners out.
Insert the pillow form into the fabric
Close the opening by hand or machine.
Use 1 1/2 yards of wide satin ribbon (not wired) to tie a bow around the pillow. Pin back the loops in the bow with straight pins hidden under the top loops.
Add another small bow made with narrow satin ribbon that will hold the rings (don't attach the real rings -use imitation metal ones available in favor supplies) and secure it down with a few stitches.
Sew a 2" tassel onto 1 1/2 yards of satin cording.
Fold the tassels and cording in half and tie them around the bow on the pillow.
