Baby Shower Ideas?
I have never hosted a baby shower before and I just offered to do one for a neighbor of mine in October so now what I am after are some creative and inexpensive ways to decorate, games, snacks etc...
I wouldnt have offered to do this because $$ is tight right now except that she doesn't have anyone really close to share in her excitement so I wanted her to feel good while she's pregnant and to bask in the true joy of having a new baby...so any ideas?
Thanks!

Baby Shower Ideas
I did a shower of my own back in May.... It was my first one ever. I have got a few ideas..
1.) Don't forget a corsage for the bride and the brides mother
2.) Guess the baby Food scent.... get about 10 cans of DIFFERENT kinds of baby food...take of the labels indicating what it is and put #s on each one... give everyone a sheet numbered 1-10 and the person who gets the most right out of 10 WINS...and then ofcourse gives the prize to the mother to be!
LOOKING FOR A DIFFERENT GAME.... this one is cheap and super easy. I have a picture... its gat all the rooms of a babys new home... with the mommy, crib, siblings, etc...its so cute... you give everyone a copy...face down....have them all turn it over at the SAME TIME.... study it for 30 seconds...turn it back over and then answer a series of about 10 questions to see what they remember from the picture...this is fast and EASY... super fun.... again, the one with the most right...wins... and then ofcourse gives the prize to the mother to be! I can send you this game if you want to send me a SASE!
I also have 10 cute baby shower invitations left over from the shower i did in may that i'll trade you for next to nothing... if you are interested...
Let me know what you think on all of this. PLEASE E-MAIL ME AT

You can also ask the guests to bring their presents acording to the first letter of their names
Bertha- bibs
Dora-diaper bag
Susan - sheets
etc and everyone tries to guess what it is
Also, buy a receiving blanket and pass it along for them to write their best wishes !
Put a small plastic baby ( the ones they sell for corsages) in each space of an ice tray. Fill with water, and freeze. Give each guest an ice cube and the first one to melt the ice and get the baby out ( the baby is born) wins.
Buy 2 cheap baby bottles ( you can find them at the dollar store) and get 4 women to participate. In 2 teams, one is the mom and the other one the baby , the moms give the babies the bottle ( filled with coke or juice) the first one to finish it wins.
Hope that helped

just wanted to give you an idea for a favor fo r the shower.
i went to a shower recently and the hostess gave out candles with a poem attached.
she made the candles, but i'm sure you could just buy some.
they are little votive candles that she wrapped in tulle, tied with a ribbon with the poem attached.
the poem says;
here's a candle for you today.
to light when baby is here to stay.
when you light it's flickering
flame,
say a prayer in baby's name.
just thought this was cute.

is the baby a boy or a girl, and what kind of theme are you using? i just had a baby shower on the 11th of this month and i have a TON of stuff left over. we didnt know the sex of the baby so i did a pastel colored noahs ark theme. i have some plates, napkins, cups, tablecloths, centerpiece, balloons, and corsages left over, and some other stuff that i need to go through to see what i have, i scanned the napking, and tablecloth so you could see it, the link is down below. also instaed when you buy a certain theme for the cups, plates , and napkins, i would considering only buying half of what you need, and then buying another color or two to mix in, it saves alot of money and puts more colors into your party. i made little corsages so the guests could wear, and i made special differnt one for the mom to be to wear.

We just had a baby shower at work with a Rubber Ducky theme. It was very sweet. We floated a Rubber Ducky in blue punch, I made sugar cookies shaped like ducks with sugar soap bubbles, and out cake had a rubber ducky sitting on top.
You can also find free Classic Pooh Party ideas and printables at http://www.ohbotherpooh.com
Best of luck!

this is just like what honeybee said, but a little different poem, i also made these and other stuff.
votive poem:
"A candle for you to light once the stork has made her flight, with the gentle glow of it's flame please say a prayer in baby's name"
i also used the white tulle and used blue bath crystals, tied it with a ribbon and put a little pacifier, or bottle on the ribbon and put this saying on the little card tied to it
bath poem:
"When your day is done and you need to relax, Here's the making for a soothing bath" Celeste's Baby Shower 8/11/2002

Heres a fun idea. Recently I went to a baby shower and when you walk in the door they pinned 2 clothes pins to you. Heres the deal when you say the mothers name, the fathers name or the word baby anyone near you may remove your clothes pin and put it on themselves. At the end of the shower the one with the most clothes pins wins a prize. It was cute and alot of fun. Try it you will enjoy.
