MATERIALS
Acrylic paint – flesh
Paintbrush (1/2” flat)
¾” diameter wood bead
¼” diameter wood dowel
1-1/2” wood ball
Drill with ¼” drill bit
Sharp knife (for cutting end of wood dowel)
Hot glue gun and glue sticks
Ruler
Metal window screen
Metal snips
Spray paint (gold)
30 gauge florist wire
Green moss
2” clay pot
Small silk flowers with leaves (your choice for skirt decoration)
Spanish moss
Statice (white for flowers in hair)
Heavy twine (for arms)
Craft wire (gold 18-gauge)
Needle nose pliers
INSTRUCTIONS
1. Paint ¾” bead (for knee), dowel and 1-1/2” ball (for head) with pink paint. Let dry.
2. Drill a ½” deep hole into wood ball for head.
3. For bent leg, cut two 6” lengths from dowel with knife.
Carefully shave one end of each length with knife to a point that will fit into ¾” bead.
Glue shaved ends into bead using photo as guide.
4. For skirt, cut a 9” diameter circle from window screen with metal shears.
Apply line of glue around edges of circle. Let glue dry.
5. Spray skirt and pot with gold, following manufacturers directions. Let dry.
6. Cut a ½” hole into center of skirt.
Insert dowel legs through hole, allowing 24” leg to extend about 3-1/2” above skirt.
Carefully gather screen around legs.
Wrap florist wire tightly around gathers, securing skirt onto legs. Glue to further secure in place.
Glue green moss to top of skirt to cover florist wire.
7. Insert top of dowel into clay pot and ½” through hole.
Glue to secure.
Let glue dry. Glue head onto end of dowel, resting on clay pot.
8. Glue small amounts of green moss around skirt and clay pot.
Glue flowers and leaves into moss using photo as guide.
9. Glue Spanish moss onto head for hair.
Glue a wreath of flowers onto hair.
10. For arms, cut a 12” length from twine.
Glue center of length onto back of pot.
Bring ends around to front.
Tie a knot in each end for hands. Trim excess from knot.
Glue ends together. Glue glowers into hands.
11. Using pattern as guide - click link above, bend craft wire into wings, using needle nose pliers.
Glue wings onto back of clay pot.
Glue moss in center of wings to cover glue.
