Afghans For Angel; if you knit of crochet, please read
I am posting this message for the woman running this, because I want to help out, and my knitting skills are minimal (crocheting skills are nonexistant). If this post is for some reason inappropriate, I'm sorry. I just know that people here tend to be kind, loving, giving folks who understand the concept of wanting to help when they themselves haven't much to give, monetarily. Anyhow, the following is the message she told me to post:
Good day. My name is Kate. I am a crocheter, and I am writing today to ask for your help with a project that my daughter and I have started. The Afghans for Angel project What is the Afghans for Angel project? This project is designed to benefit the family of a young man in my community, Angel Diaz. Angel was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor earlier this school year and is currently undergoing treatment at University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City. Angel is also in the Cub Scouts. The Afghans for Angel Project is a project my daughter (age 6) and I have begun. We are making and collecting knitted or crocheted 5" X 5" yarn squares to be made into afghans. Once completed, the afghans will be sold by Angel's cub scout pack in a silent auction. All of the proceeds will be donated to the family in order to help cover the cost of Angel's treatment as well as helping to allow his parents to be by his side during this frightening and difficult time. The afghans are made up of knitted and crocheted squares pieced together with a border added. The size of the yarn square is 5" X 5". No specific pattern or stitch is required, only the size. No restrictions on color or types of yarn either. Once your squares arrive I'll snap a picture of them and put it up on the Website. Anyone contributing squares to the project will receive a postcard with a photo of the completed afghans on it. If you are interested in donating, we need as many squares as we can get. You can find out most of the information you need about the project at http://www.public.iastate.edu/~nytng...el_project.htm . If you have any questions you may contact the project coordinator, Kate Johnson Burroughs through email at nytngale@iastate.edu. If you know anyone who might be interested, please pass this information along. PLEASE EMAIL PROJECT COORDINATOR FOR ADDRESS TO SEND SQUARES. Thank you very much! If you have any questions please feel free to email me @ nytngale@iastate.edu, Kate Johnson Burroughs |
