I need help looking for ideas on a
going up the hill party. My hubby is turning 40 and we are having a surprise party for him. I need help before the big party day of 03,02.02.
Here is what I have so far: - a big banner reading like a birth announcemnent. - flamingoes on the front yard - 30 of family and closest friends coming over for a pot luck appetizers nite (children welcome) - I have asked his 'long distance' friends to come up with pictures and e-mail that read like a telegraph and I will paste it on paper, burnt around the edges to read like a scroll, with all the fan fare. - we are doing a picture tells a thousand words the people can bring pictures are going to have them with a caption undeneath. - and we are also doing a large paper on the wall so people can sign it with their best wishes or ammusing anecdotes for him. I am looking for ideas, games, fun things to do, and I know all you bright on the ball people can come up with them! EC

Go to www.orientaltrading.com their phone is 1-800-228-2269
Also you could rent 2 wheel chairs at your local drug store or med equipment store. Have hubby race everyone for practice in his old age!!!

You could give out a towel and 2 baby safety pins to each guy and tell them they have to diaper each other (over their clothes). This will teach them to take care of each other so the women don't have to.(don't use depend it's to easy that way) You could also make them put bibs(from goodwill) on each other and feed each other baby food and make it something good like lima beans, beets (put the jars in a bag and let them pick it). Make sure you wrap some prizes for the winners of who get done the fastest. Like efferdent, rogain, polident, preperation H, depends, baby wipes, and maybe a bib. This will give all the women a real good laugh!ROTFLMAO

Surprise party went like this....
I had my brother n law and brother take my hubby out to she the "ladies", and that left my sister and sister n law with the 6 children all under the age of 5 to decorate and set up the house.
My husband knew we were having family over so that was no big deal, he thought they came to chat and visit! WE waited exactly 5 minutes after he left and then went to town! We placed 40 pink flamingos on the snow covered lawn (boy did they stand out!) and the funny thing is my sister thought they were for my husband (which they are) but my husband (who plotted them out so they were big enough) though they were for my sister. They were for both! hehhehe. Okay the flamigos were made out of plywood and then spray painted pink. We also set up a huge 20' sign that read like a birth announcement stating the time, date, weight, length and year and his full name all done in 6' letters! You could read it from the top of the hill! And inside the house we had everyone blowing up balloons and putting up streamers, and placing the numbers 4 & 0 around the house. (They were the size of a full sheet of 11 x 8.5 paper). Also had the set up goind on tables were moved and re-arranged (after I had my husband arrange them for the 'family' dinner)*evil grin here*. So we then also has to heat up a lot of food and set up the stuff. Couldn't have done it without my sister and sister n law! They were the best! So company starts arriving at 5:30 (hubby due back at 6:00 - 6:30) and my step nephew doing the *code red - code red* he had a lot of fun with that. We video taped everyone coming in the door and when the *guest of honour* arrived he was (needless to say) stunned! He came in saw a bunch a people he hadn't seen in a couple of years and walked around looked at everything and mentioned the Pink Flamingoes stating "I told her they better not be for me! I plotted them out! They were supposed to be for her sister!" It was hillarious. Then he went downstairs and almost had a heart attack! Cause the room downstairs was filled with about 15 more people he hadn't seen in years too! You see they were being very quiet, and he thought all the people were upstairs! (more evil laughing here) So, after awhile I pulled out the *scrolls* e-mails that were written like telegrams from friends and family that couldn't make it accross the country! They were a big hit, embarrassing and funny at the same time. We also placed around the house blown up pictures of him through-out out the years. We had his baptism photos, Christmas shots on Santa's knee, playing in the mud, school photos, us getting married, our children. It was all very touching especially since we had captions on all of them. For example on the one of him and our infant (at the time) sleeping on his chest, (dad was sleeping too) we had "like father like son" Another picture showed him with long curly hair, "When he had hair". It was all in good fun right? We decided that there was not enough room for games so we did one guessing game with his school pictures and had people guess the years on it. The lady and man with the closest guess won a prize! I had everyone bring an appetizer and it was a great night! It was a lot of fun seeing people we hadn't seen in a long time and he was very, very surprised! Thanks for all of your help!
