I have just painted my daughter's room a real light purple. she collects butterflies and no store carries wallboarder w/ the m on it in stock, and it would be too much to have them order it. so, i have decided to stencil my own boarder. the thing is, i have never done it on walls. just fabric. any suggestions on making he first time easier? and also wher do you get the border wall stencils? thank you for your help!!

My SIL swears by the stencil adhesives...She says it makes the stencils cling to the wall better. I, however, just use painters tapes. Creme paints are easier to work with than the gels. I use both now but I think a first timer would find it easier to use the creme. Buy several brushes so you don't have to keep cleaning your brush. Make sure your line is level throughout the whole room...this is essential to make sure everything is straight and just because you are going around the top of the ceiling doesn't mean it will be level. No house is exactly plumb. I would start behind a door so that you can get your shading down ect or better yet do it on a practice board. The corners are the hardest and will require tape to hold the stencil down. Just take a deep breath and just do it...if you don't like it, sometimes you can just wipe it off or you can paint over it. You can get the stencils at Michaels, Garden Ridge, Wal-Mart, Lowe's etc. If you don't find what you are looking for then do a search on the web. Good luck and write if you have more questions!
