Unhappy Another stupid sewing machine question...

I feel so stupid, but it didn't come with instructions, and I know if I ask my mom I'll just feel more stupid.
OK enuff pity

Uhhmm, well i went to sew up my pants the other day, and the thread is not in the needle. OK, i know how to thread a needle, my real question is, once I have the thread in the needle what do I do? Does the thread get tied anywhere or is that it?

And, while I'm asking, one other question, if I wish to change the needle, how do I go about doing this?

I have a singer, actually it's a children's sewing machine, LOL, it's a portable small one.

ok, please don't make me feel too stupid now!
