Arrow Free Stuff from Coats & Clark

In response to the tragic events in New York and Washington, D.C., as well as the phenomenal outpouring of patriotic feeling, Coats & Clark offers a ``no skills" free project leaflet - ``Stars & Stripes" Door Wreath - for your immediate use.

We hope you will agree this project will help us cope by providing a creative outlet and by maintaining the feeling of solidarity that has become so strong since Tuesday, September 11.

Please feel free to copy this project and share it with your friends (note- ``no skills" means knowledge of knitting or crocheting is not needed to complete this project).

Arrow For all of you with webTv

Here are the directions...
Stars & Stripes«
« No skills required.

Wreath measures approximately 15" in diameter.

RED HEART® "Super Saver®", or any worsted weight acrylic yarn

Amount: 3 Ounces Blue, 5 Ounces each Red and White

Wire coat hanger (or purchased 12"-wire ring and wire wreath hanger); cardboard; scissors; purchased decorations; large ribbon bow.

Shape wire hanger into a ring, then bend hook for hanging loop OR use purchased wire ring.

Each wreath is made of bundles of yarn that are tied to the ring.

To make yarn bundles (Make 36 of Blue, 56 of Red, and 48 of White): Wind 20 times around a 4" piece of cardboard. Slip these strands off the cardboard. Then, with a separate 8" strand of yarn, tie strands together at center (see Figure 1); do not cut yarn loops.

Using the ends of the 8" strand, tie the bundle to the ring, positioning the bundle perpendicular to the wire (see Figure 2).

Make another bundle and tie to the ring adjacent to the previous bundle. Continue to make bundles and tie them to the wire in the same way, positioning each bundle against the previous bundle and working around the ring until the entire wire ring is filled.

Attach decorations; glue in place if necessary. Attach bow.
