I went and found my funnel cake recipe and found that it almost exactly matches cindy's, so I won't waste time typing it again, but what are elephant ears?

elephant ears
i used to eat these all the time aren't they just yest doughnuts flattened out with cinnamon on top.
1 1/2 cups milk 1 teaspoon salt 2 tablespoons white sugar 3/8 cup shortening 2 tablespoons active dry yeast 4 cups all-purpose flour 1 quart oil for frying 3 tablespoons ground cinnamon 6 tablespoons white sugar Directions 1 In small saucepan over medium heat, combine milk, salt, 2 tablespoons sugar and shortening. Heat until shortening melts and sugar dissolves. Remove from heat and let cool to lukewarm, 110 degrees F (43 degrees C). Sprinkle in yeast and let sit until foamy. 2 Transfer mixture to large bowl, and stir in flour to make a dough. Knead until smooth, cover and let rise 30 minutes. 3 In a large heavy skillet or deep fryer, heat 1 inch of oil to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). 4 Roll out 1 to 2 inch balls of dough into thin sheets. Fry sheets 1 to 2 minutes on a side, until puffed and golden. Drain on paper towels. 5 Combine cinnamon and 6 tablespoons sugar. Sprinkle over warm pastries. Serve got this off of all recipes.com hope this helps sounds right to me

I was just on another site and I was reading this recipe when I clicked back to big big and saw your request, so here you go. I have not tried this, but,
EASY FUNNEL CAKES: SUPPLIES: cooking oil kitchen funnel 3 eggs 1/4 cup sugar 2 cup whole milk 3 2/3 cup all purpose flour 1/2 tsp salt 2 tsp baking powder DIRECTIONS: pour 2 inches of oil into large pan heat on Medium or Medium-High Combine eggs and sugar Slowly add milk and beat mixture add all dry ingredients beat untill smooth Hold finger over opening of funnel and pour mixture into it (hint...only put enough batter for one cake at a time so you can lay funnel down once batter is in oil) hold funnel above oil and carefully remove finger..move funnel around creating design let cook untill golden brown on one side then flip and cook same on other side remove from oil and drain on paper towel top with powdered sugar or anything else youd like. FOR ELEPHANT EARS... I was at my in-laws a couple of weeks ago and we wanted these so bad so we took frozen bread dough, (frozen dinner rolls dough) we unthawed the dough in the microwave (wrapped it in saran wrap that had been sprayed with non-stick cooking spray), rolled them out and we put them in heated vegetable oil and fried them. Then we sprinkled them with cinnomon and sugar. Wha La, there was elephant ears.
