When I worked at McDonald's (did so for 10 years and loved my job), I did care about things like that. I think it has something to do with a good work ethic. I feel they are representatives of the store and therefore care about such things. Whenver I've had a coupon for an item and the pic showed something specific, I felt that this was what the coupon was for. But coupons vary and I always looked for the word "any" and if it was there, I was prepared to argue the point if the cashier wasn't going to give me my 'cents off.'
I don't think that a person should be paid for the difficulty level but rather rewarded for dealing with the public. (y'all know that we
CAN be difficult.) Not all who are cashiers should be cashiers because some need to be in another job, (because they're downright rude and bored and could care less about you. They just want to get through the day. Leave your problems at home, honey. We all have them) out of the public eye but others are really great. It makes a big difference to me if cashiers/clerks are friendly and cooperative. So I absolutely believe most are overworked and underpaid and I absolutely agree that some others are downright b*tches.
