Knotted Anklet

This knotted anklet is such a cinch to make, it won't be long before your child is mass-producing colorful thread jewelry for all his friends. CRAFT MATERIALS:
Scissors
Embroidery thread (2 or more colors)
1 button
Masking tape

Time needed: Under 1 Hour
1. Cut eight to ten 3-foot lengths of embroidery thread and arrange them in a bunch so that the ends match up.

2. At one end of the bunch, tie a loop that's slightly bigger than the button and tape it to a stationary surface. Separate one thread from the rest.

3. Wrap it around the bunch and then up over itself, as shown above. Pull it taut.

4. Continue wrapping and knotting the same strand around the bunch until you wish to change colors.

5. Simply separate a new thread from the group and blend the last one back in. Change colors as often as you like.

6. When you're near the end, tie a tight overhand knot.

7. Thread the loose ends through the button holes, tie them in a knot, and trim off any excess.

Use a clipboard to hold your project while working; this is also great busywork in the car

Macramé Power Bead Ankle Bracelet
Too cool! Pick the beads you want for the power you need.

You Need:
12 Feet #20 Hemp
Power Beads
Masking Tape
Scissors

Instructions:

Cut hemp into two 6' lengths. Fold each piece so one end is 18" long and the other end is 4½' long. Hold both pieces together at the fold and tie an overhand knot so you have a loop no bigger than 3/4".

Tape the folded loop the table. Tape the two shorter holding cords to the table at the ends. Tie a square knot (see illustrated directions below.)

Slide a power bead on the middle holding cords. If you have trouble fitting the bead onto both strands, trim off one strand close to the knot. Push the bead up close to the knot. Use the outer cord to tie another square knot snugly up under the power bead. Continue with beads and knots until you have enough to fit around your ankle.

Finish with an overhand knot. Trim cord ends leaving a few inches to tie around your ankle.

Making the square knots:

Making the square knots:

Cross strand 1 over strands 2 & 3 and under strand 4.

Bring strand 4 under strands 2 & 3, then up through the loop created by strand 1. Tighten.
