Thanks, hubby was going to plant some in the garden, but we could not find any seed beans. We used to put them in the freezer instead of canning or completely drying. Now it is just too late in the season.
We did manage to get our hands on some heirloom green beans so we are happy about that. I will probably have about 80 quarts to can that is still in the garden, we've already canned 70 quarts, we did lose one jar, it did not seal. Hubby is saving plenty of the seeds so that we can share and cntinue to plant them in the future.
From what I am reading on the internet there are those that are worried about speculators running up the price of food the way they have done with oil, so I am planning ahead, just in case. We planted potatoes but they did not grow for some reason, so that was something I was counting on having and saving.
I have a link to a book that is online that was published in the 70's about how to survive, it was more about how to survive without working, but some of the things mentioned still applies. I've posted it in off chat, but I saved it in faovrites if you would like the link, let me know, it is an interesting read.
