I'd put the date on your calendar. Usually your taxes are due on the same day (on or around) each year. Our taxes are escrowed and paid twice a year by our mortgage company. When a place/business/town office accepts debit/credit cards, they get charged a fee for each transaction. They're probably trying to keep costs down (thus saving the taxpayers some money) by not accepting the cards. Our town offices don't accept them, either. It IS a pain when you're used to using your debit for EVERYTHING (we are--we never carry cash), but I just remember that when it's time to reregister my car or pay my excise taxes on it, that I have to bring my checkbook.

Sorry your day was so frustrating.
