I agree with beesknees on this...I grew up in a very GERMAN family, where we were all bigger, even as kids...If someone would have asked that when I was young, I would have said dead to be honest b/c I got the brunt of the teasing when we grew up. But I also had a family that told me I was beautiful everyday. I know I am beautiful, no matter how big or small I am.
A lot of girls come into my store and they talk about their weight. I work with 2 girls who are anorexic as well. One day I asked one of them, "Shandy, do you think I am pretty...? She said, Kari, I think you are beautiful, seriously..." And I calmly explained to her, "Shandy, I am never going to be thin, never have been, but I know I am beautiful, and I wish you could see that same beauty in yourself. She began BAWLING. She checked into rehab the next day for her eating disorder and I hear that she is doing wonderful and has gained some much needed weight.
I agree, its the media that is to blame. They tell you what is beautiful and what is ugly. We just have to teach our children how to see people in the real way instead of superficially..
