This is so terribly sad. I'm looking at my 3 year old right now and wandering what it would be like for her in that situation. It's enough to make a person cry. I am so glad that she was able to find something to eat and was doing okay and really doesn't seem to know what was going on with her grandma. Maybe she won't have any bad memories of it.
